Start of the cria birthing season 2015

And we are off! Eight babies are due this week in the first batch. Gem was the first to unpack a beautiful dark brown male who the girls have called King Apple (I may have to work on the name!). He was up and running in an hour and has been feeding a treat. Gem is a very experienced dam, this being her 7th cria and she has produced some of our best alpacas with Surilana Parsifal as the sire. As part of SuriSelect he is one of six studs that we use. All seven of her progeny have been dark fawn or brown even though Parsifal is white. The roll of show honours is pretty impressive: Washington (Male)
